Another of my Liberal maladies, Knee Jerk Syndrome, causes politicians to want to pass unneeded and largely useless laws every time sometime a tragedy happens. Chris notes that even Republicans can be afflicted with this malady that seem to strike all the common sense in people!

Common Sense? Meet Rep. Peter King (R-NY). Now please help him stop over-reacting to the Tucson shooting incident. Please, before he does something really stupid.

Although I don’t know what could be more stupid than this: Rep. King plans to introduce legislation making it illegal for someone to knowingly carry a gun within 1,000 feet of certain high-ranking federal officials, including members of Congress.

“It would give law enforcement the weapon they need to protect federal officials and just as importantly, it would provide a large measure of security for those who want to meet with their federal elected officials,” said King, who is chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Have metal detectors, will travel? And while Petey and his Congressional Bubble are in transit will it emit a constantly updating real-time GPS map so us otherwise law-abiding citizens can detour around the Cone of Insanity?

It is official! EVERYTHING Sarah Palin says “incites violence”

The Left is obsessed with Palin, EVERYTHING this woman says, apparently, is now an incitement of violence. take this example from Yid With Lid. It seems that the latest “violent rhetoric from Palin is the term Blood Libel. Palin recorded a video expressing her sorrow over the Arizona shootings, and the Left, is going nuts

But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.

For example Ruth Marcus at the Washington Post said:

Blood libel is a term with a specific and terrible history. It refers to the scurrilous accusation that Jews kidnapped and murdered Christian children to use their blood to prepare Passover matzoh. Charges of blood libel have spurred massacres of Jews throughout the centuries; the myth was revived by Hitler and persists today from Russia to the Arab world.

Using the phrase “blood libel” is akin to making a Holocaust analogy: It is almost always a bad idea. Very little compares to the murder of thousands or millions of Jews simply because of their religion.

Howard Kurtz at his new gig at the Daily Beast added:

Blood libel, for those who are not familiar, describes a false accusation that minorities—usually Jews—murder children to use their blood in religious rituals, and has been a historical theme in the persecution of the Jewish people. Had Palin scoured a thesaurus, she could not have come up with a more inflammatory phrase.

Throughout the liberal world accusations began to spring up suggesting that Palin’s use of the phrase blood libel was some how an affront to the Jewish people.

As a Jew who has studied and often writes about Jewish issues, the Holocaust and Antisemitism in general allow me for a second to comment on the claims of those progressive commentators.  Horse Crap!

Again, the Left has their new fear and smear campaign in high gear don’t they? Trying to convince us that all Right Wing rhetoric is not political speech, no, it is, instead, violent rhetoric,that must be “toned down” lest those crazy Conservatives pick up weapons and go on killing sprees. This strategy also sees, naturally to intimidate Republicans into shutting up, or afraid to speak up for what they believe. I say to all Americans, DO NOT BUY what the Liberals are selling.

Folks, the Left jumped all over the Arizona killings, accusing Glenn Beck, Palin, Rush, etc. of “inciting violence” and causing that barbaric act. Even though the killer was certainly not a conservative, the Left, including their media lap dogs, are still pushing that sack of manure, and they always will. First they said that the vitriol of the Tea Party, and Palin, and Beck, caused this. Then, when that dog did not hunt, they changed their charge. Now it is “violent rhetoric” and anti-government vitriol that caused it. See even when the Left is proven dead wrong, they change their tune and insist that they are still right! Again, DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!

Another case of zero-tolerance absurdity

Ashley Smithwick said she had never gotten in trouble before and was surprised when the principal opened her lunchbox and found the knife.

The teen was initially given a 10-day suspension, then received notice that she was suspended the rest of the school year.

The knife in question? A very small knife, one you might use to peel an apple.  So, one stupid, gutless principal might ruin this girl’s life, and her chance at college over this? Take common sense out of the equation, and judgment out as well, and this is the type of thing you end up with. A good kid treated like a common thug.

Oh no! Not another boycott from the self-appointed moarlity wing of the GOP!

A couple of groups are vowing to boycott CPAC this year because the group GOPProud, a Gay Republican group was invited. Hmmm, why would they take a “I will take my ball and go home” attitude? Why not act like adults, and go, have some discourse, find out where they agree/disagree with GOPProud? Perhaps there is more in common between these groups than not?

Frankly, if I attend CPAC, which I would like to, or not depends on work, not on who is attending. Frankly, I have problems with some of the Nanny Statism I hear from the groups that have their panties in a bunch. So what? Does not mean I would not go just because they were going to be there. Likewise with GOPProud. I might not like everything that group stands for either. Again SO WHAT?

Frankly, the Concerned Women for America and the Family Research Council ought to be bigger than they are being about this. Their boycott is nothing but a childish stunt  in my view.

Two of the nation’s premier moral issues organizations, the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America, are refusing to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in February because a homosexual activist group, GOProud, has been invited.

“We’ve been very involved in CPAC for over a decade and have managed a couple of popular sessions. However, we will no longer be involved with CPAC because of the organization’s financial mismanagement and movement away from conservative principles,” said Tom McClusky, senior vice president for FRC Action.

“CWA has decided not to participate in part because of GOProud,” CWA President Penny Nance told WND.

FRC and CWA join the American Principles Project, American Values, Capital Research Center, the Center for Military Readiness, Liberty Counsel, and the National Organization for Marriage in withdrawing from CPAC. In November, APP organized a boycott of CPAC over the participation of GOProud.

There is also a good deal of dismay over the growing Libertarian attitude among many Republicans. Frankly, the GOP should embrace more of the Libertarian ideals, not all necessarily, but many of them. The fact is the more we can remove government from our lives, ALL areas of our lives, the better! Some “Social Conservatives” are all for embracing small government, until something offends them. Then they want the FCC to crack down on TV, then they start carping about “public airwaves” and “community standards” to beat the band. Of course, now their mantra about5 public airwaves is being used by Liberals like Al Sharpton to try and use the FCC to control Conservative talkers like Rush Limbaugh.

The sad fact is this, once you invite the government into your home to control your TV, or your community standards, so you will not be offended, that same government will soon be in every room of your house. That same government will soon be controlling everything you do. The Social Conservatives ought to learn this lesson, and learn how to use the remote control as well. trust me it is pretty easy.

Again, boycotting CPAC just makes these groups look less Conservative and more like Liberals to me. If I were to advise them, I would say grow up and show up.

President Obama Calls Pastors To Preach Healthcare

Earlier this week on a conference call, President Obama and his top healthcare officials charged religious leaders across America with spreading a new kind of gospel — the good news of nationalized healthcare. Isn’t it convenient how the pulpit is barred from promoting political opinion, until it is the opinion of the President? According to Politico, “Obama instructed faith leaders to treat the new law as settled fact and use their perches of power to convey that message to congregants and friends.”

And, the State turns a blind eye!

Pastors plan to ‘bait’ IRS with pulpit politics

On Sunday, a group of 100 preachers nationwide will step into the pulpit and say the only words they’re forbidden by law from speaking in a church.

This is a perfect example of why I refer to Liberalism as a ideology of convenience. Liberalism demands no consistency does it? No, instead it demands only that certain feelings be re-enforced. A consistent Liberal would be outraged over this, but, sadly most will defend it, because they agree with the message.

I believe Kathleen Sebelius did use that old Stalinist phrase! This is not a good sign

Uncertain whether the last 18 months of dismal health-care speeches and rallies had entirely destroyed the myth of the Obama administration as gifted, uplifting message mavens, Kathleen Sebelius bravely ventured into the rhetorical orchards and brought forth this rotten fruit:

“Unfortunately, there still is a great deal of confusion about what is in [the reform law] and what isn’t,” Sebelius told ABC News Radio in an interview Monday.

“So, we have a lot of reeducation to do,” Sebelius said.

Cult of competence, I believe they were once called.

Very creepy indeed! Of course the Left will dismiss any concerns over the use of that particular phrase. But, it is interesting that Sebelius did not simply say informed for example. Wasit just a bad choice of words? Was it just her condescending arrogance at work? Is she really stupid enough to think we stupid Americans just do not understand how wonderful ObamaCare is? Or, does she believe in, well, you know!

Something a sane mind cannot fathom

The Left is one of the great mysteries of life. They scream out for “human rights” “equality” and often can be heard shouting “power to the people”. Yet, for all their words, they reject, and demonize those states which actually honor those tenets. The United States? Bad! Israel? Bad! capitalism? Very bad! Even though capitalism provides a much higher standard of living, even for the poor in the nations which embrace capitalism, the Left rejects it in favor of various forms of Marxism, which deprive everyone, except the ruling elites of course, of not only economic gains, but basic liberties as well.

What is it that so deludes the minds of Leftists. Surely, it is easy to see why the powerful Leftists embrace it. It is all about power and control for them. But what of the, let us refer to them as Little Leftists, why do they embrace an ideology that has always denied the very things the Little Leftist claims to seek?

Why do they loathe Israel, and embrace the terrorist regimes and organizations that oppose Israel? The Little Leftists shriek in rage whenever Israel defends itself afer being attacked. Yet, these same “social justice” proponents ignore or even justify the terror attacks upon innocent Israelis.

Why is it that makes the Little Leftists  despise America so? They demonize this nation for daring to even have a border at all for example. Racism! They scream and rant. Yet, Many other nations, such as Mexico, have far more punitive immigration laws, and the Little Leftists say nothing, and when they do, they defend those nations rights to have such laws! Clearly they do not apply their standards of “Social Justice” evenly. It seems that the only thing these people truly hate is freedom.

They never protest against nations that truly oppress their people. No, their rage is reserved almost exclusively for Western republics. So, one has to assume that it is freedom these malcontents despise.

Take this story I found at Wizbang for instance. It seems a big shot at Amnesty International hates “social injustice” so much that he deems a certain Middle Eastern nation a “scum state”. Which nation draws his ire? Why, Israel of course!

A typical missive aimed at the Jewish state from Islamists or the likes of Ahmadinejad or your typical leftist state side anti-semite… but what makes this particularly blog worthy is that it’s actually something said by an Amnesty International leader who slipped up and in a weak moment allowed his bigotry to be unmasked:

On Monday the head of Finland’s branch of Amnesty International, Frank Johansson, termed Israel a “scum state.” Writing in his blog, which appears on the Web site of Iltalehti, one of Finland’s largest newspapers, he based his characterization of Israel on his “own visit[s], which occurred during the 1970s and for the last time in the 1990s.” Johansson further justified his rhetoric toward Israel because he has previously invoked strong language against former Pres. George Bush on Finnish TV. He called Mr. Bush “the biggest executioner in the Western Hemisphere.”

Turning Israel and the United States into whipping boys is hardly new territory among human-rights NGOs, but now a high-level official of AI has exposed his pathological obsession with rejecting Western democratic values. His biological language mirrors that of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who calls Israel a “cancer” that needs to be “removed.”

Once Johansson was caught with both hands deep in the anti-Semitic cookie jar, he offered the defense that “I am writing those [blogs] in my capacity as a private person, not as an Amnesty official.” However, on Iltalehti’s Web site, his title as “director of the Finnish branch of Amnesty International” appears above his blog.

So, Israel is the bad guy? Israel, which practices religious tolerance. Israel, which treats women as equal citizens, rather than as third class property? Israel is scum to this guy? Again, a nation that grants freedom is blasted by a Leftist, while a free pass is given to terrorists that attack Israel without cause, and enslave their people under the evils of Sharia Law?

This, my friends, is why I consider the Left to be morally retarded.

So, the Ground Zero Mosque is about freedom of religion to the Left?

I am all about freedom of religion, but, it struck me as odd that the Left would be championing the Ground Zero Mosque on those grounds. Warner Todd Huston agrees and looks into the Left’s conveniently timed support of freedom of religion.

As the left falls all over itself to claim that building the Ground Zero Mega-Mosque is the perfect chance to “showcase” our “Constitutional freedoms” and our religious tolerance, there is another state where religious tolerance is not as noticeably on display as it is for New York’s Muslims. Naturally, in Vermont, it is the religious freedom of Christians being denied. To be sure, the Old Media is not nearly as interested in this story. Richard and Joan Downing own a hilltop property in Lyndonville, Vermont and on that property they’ve built a family chapel where they host weekly Catholic services for all. Next to the chapel they have also erected a 24-foot-tall cross called the Cross of Dozulé, a cross that the State of Vermont is insisting that they remove. How does the State of Vermont justify its demands that the family pull down the cross? Vermont officials are citing environmental regulations that give it the power to determine what sort of construction violates the “aesthetics” of Vermont’s scenery.

OK, so I will expect that any second now, the same Leftists screeching about freedom of religion will be all over this case in Vermont! Any second now I tell ya, yep, they are bound to start standing on their religious freedom soap boxes anytime now….., ah, guys, where are y’all.

OH, that’s right, I forgot, this is the Left we are talking about, they are selective in their tolerance. I guess some religions are, more equal than others?

Miss USA opposes Grond Zero Mosque, and looks damn good in a bikini doing it!

Perhaps we can witness the formation of a new group of attractive women opposing the Jihad Center in New York. Hotties for America?

(NY P0st) — The reigning Miss USA has come out against the Ground Zero mosque, saying “it shouldn’t be so close” to Ground Zero.

The 24-year-old Rima Fakih, is the first Muslim winner of the Miss USA contest and is preparing for the Miss Universe Pageant, scheduled for Monday in Las Vegas.

“I totally agree with President Obama with the statement on Constitutional rights of freedom of religion,” Fakih told “Inside Edition” in an interview that will air tonight.

“I also agree that it shouldn’t be so close to the World Trade Center. We should be more concerned with the tragedy than religion.”
