Back Door Attempt Against 2nd Amendment “Shot down” by EPA

Not that I’m a fan of the NRA, but it seems they were on the ball this time and stifled a back door attempt to subvert the 2nd amendment. It seems like some of the enviro-nuts wanted the EPA to outlaw lead bullets and sinkers.

Here’s an excerpt;

In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups

to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn’t have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue. The decision came just hours after the Drudge Report posted stories from Washington Whispers and the Weekly Standard about how gun groups were fighting the lead bullet ban.

The EPA had planned to solicit public responses to the petition for two months, but this afternoon issued a statement rejecting a 100-page request from the Center for Biological Diversity, the American Bird Conservancy, and three other groups for a ban on lead bullets, shot, and fishing sinkers. The agency is still considering what to do about sinkers.

  1. No lead? Fishermen don’t have a lobby. I wonder if the folks at EPA know what they are in for.

    Let’s think about this. Perhaps the EPA just wants hunters to recycle bullets and fishermen to use fishing line that CANNOT break. Perhaps the social engineers could add genetic engineering to their toolbox. Could we breed deer that stand still to be shot and fisherman that can cast fishing line made of steel cables?

  2. I understand there was a trap shooting club [now defunct] on the lake shore in Chicago that pumped tons of lead into Lake Michigan for twenty or thirty years.

    Oh my, Chicago gets its’ drinking water supply off shore from Lake Michigan…
    Doncha just hate it, when things like that happen…!

  3. We need to be thankful that the cretins at the EPA realized that they don’t have any jurisdiction over ANY part of the second amendment.

  4. Gimme a very small, break here, mtg…

    If there were only “cretins” at the EPA, would there have been anyone [cretin] there that understood they didn’t have jurisdiction…

    You’ve been a “bit harsh” and over stimulated, lately…mtg…
    Does the missus appreciate yer frisky attitude…
    …or are yah just happy LTB is back…?

  5. Who says LTB is back?

    And I thought I was being considerately mild towards the cretins at the EPA.

    You’re killin’ my “harsh” man!!
