Lions better than the Redskins?
At least one very knowledgeable prognosticator has the Detroit Lions ranked higher in his “Pre-Camp Power Rankings” than the Deadskins. Most people have not been paying attention to the Lions, figuring that they are the same old team that went 0-16 two years ago. Don’t buy it. They are much improved, and at least on offense will be able to play with anybody. Jahvid Best stats vs. Cleveland last Saturday: 1 carry, 51 yards, 1 catch, 10 yards (then he left the game after a three play touchdown drive). Fantasy footballers, do not be caught unawares. Senator Coburn, I second that emotion!

Tom Coburn is not exactly what you would call on the Newt 2012 bandwagon! Neither am I! Coburn has his reasons, which I share, and to which I would add quite simply that Newt is a politician, in my opinion before he is a Conservative! That just will not do! We need leadership, and in my opinion, politicians are not, by nature leaders. They are, rather than driven by principles, are driven too often by power!
Back Door Attempt Against 2nd Amendment “Shot down” by EPA
Not that I’m a fan of the NRA, but it seems they were on the ball this time and stifled a back door attempt to subvert the 2nd amendment. It seems like some of the enviro-nuts wanted the EPA to outlaw lead bullets and sinkers.
Here’s an excerpt;
In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups
to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn’t have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue. The decision came just hours after the Drudge Report posted stories from Washington Whispers and the Weekly Standard about how gun groups were fighting the lead bullet ban.
The EPA had planned to solicit public responses to the petition for two months, but this afternoon issued a statement rejecting a 100-page request from the Center for Biological Diversity, the American Bird Conservancy, and three other groups for a ban on lead bullets, shot, and fishing sinkers. The agency is still considering what to do about sinkers.

Friends like The Other McCain, Dan Riehl and Bob Belvedere have been somewhat exercised over the possibility of strange happenings as we head into the tabulation of ballots tomorrow (I think Bob was joking, though).
It might be comforting to hear from someone who is (almost literally) next door to the Alaska Division of Elections. That is, me.
I have been observing to the elections process here, in various capacities, for the last 10 years. There is ALMOST no room for any shenanigans when the count of absentee, questioned and early ballots goes down tomorrow. In the realm of the human there is always some room, I suppose. But unlike Washington or Minnesota, where a few boxes of ballots can always be found for the Democrat, Alaska does not have a political hack in charge of elections, nor will there be any new votes “discovered” after the count tomorrow. There will still be some days for additional absentees to trickle in, but they won’t be from the graveyards.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Murkowski picks up enough votes to trigger an automatic hand recount, but whoever wins that will be the legitimate winner, in my mind. NRSC lawyers or any other outside “consultants” will have zero, I repeat, zero impact on the results of the voting here.
That being said, let’s chill with Brooklyn Decker. I understand she was involved in some “swimsuit issue”, but really, does anyone looking at this believe it had something to do with swimming?
