Can poison ivy spread person to person?

Last night at poker the discussion came up that a worker at one of the player’s house was afraid of some poison ivy.  I said I did not blame the worker because late in life I have developed a severe allergy to it.  The guy next to me (you know who you are Roland), jesting said something to the effect of “watch out, I have poison ivy”  and rubbed his hand on my  hand.  Not in a gay way, it was a manly manner.  I thought nothing further of it and continued to dominate the table until leaving with a $2,400 win (I won’t mention what happened at last week’s game).

Lo and behold I awoke this morning with what appears to be poison ivy reaction on my hand right where he rubbed his hand against mine.  Damn you urushiol!   All the websites that I searched pooh-poohed the idea of it spreading person to person unless the poison ivy had never been washed off the original person’s hand.  All I know is that my left hand appears to be having a reaction, and I have not been around ivy.  I haven’t had a reaction to it in several years because I am careful.  What up?

Governor Chris Christie is Reaganesque

Gatordoug’s excellent article at The Daley Gator got me to thinking.  Basically, a teacher complained that she was not being paid enough, and Gov. Christie eventually replied “Well then, you don’t have to do it [teach school].”   Go read the article

That got me to thinking about Ronald Reagan. I will wager that many are too young to remember what Reagan did during his first year as President.

Almost thirty years ago, on Aug. 3, 1981, 12,000 plus members of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization walked off the job.  In response,President Reagan issued an ultimatum:  he said the strikers were violating the law and that if they did not report to work within 48 hours, they would be fired.  (Sounds reminiscent of the school superintendent who fired all the teachers recently.) They didn’t, and he did.  Those who refused to return to work were fired.  And they never got their jobs back.  New workers were hired, and trained, and took the place of the strikers.  I can see Gov. Christie doing that.

Remember, Ronald Reagan had once been president of the actors’ union, the Screen Actors’ Guild.  [He was also a member of the Army Enlisted Reserve cavalry, back when they actually still rode horses?]  And he was just an ex-radio disc jockey and B list actor.  The controllers probably thought that they had the upper hand–I can not remember.  Their work was essential and a walk-out paralyzed air traffic.  To top it off, the U.S. President had once been the president of a union.  Instead, without debate or discussion, he gave them his ultimatum.  Liberals screamed and hollered and generally carried on as you might expect.  But he said it, and he meant it, and he carried out his threat.

There were reasons why Reagan was elected by carrying almost every state in the union twice.  He was a leader who was not afraid to tackle tough issues.  Chris Christie appears to be cut from the same cloth.

In contrast, President Obama would probably join their picket line, and lobby to have all their demands met.  He might have a touchy-feely gripe session to allow the strikers to air their grievances.  But you know he would not fire them.  The Mau-Mauer in Chief has his nose so far up the union leaders’ arses that he see whether or not they have ever had tonsilectomies.

I’m keeping my eye on Gov. Christie.  I just wish he was from a Red State.  Voting for anybody from a Blue State scares me.

Peggy Noonan: “He was supposed to be competent”

I usually do not see eye to eye with Ms. Noonan, but she has an excellent article in the WallStreetJournal that nails Obama for his incompetence in general and on specific political disasters, namely the health care debate, illegal immigration and now the oil spill.

Her main complaint seems to be that since his inauguration Obama has not “been in sync with the center:”

“[Obama] continues to govern in a way that suggests he is chronically detached from the central and immediate concerns of his countrymen. This is a terrible thing to see in a political figure, and a startling thing in one who won so handily and shrewdly in 2008. But he has not, almost from the day he was inaugurated, been in sync with the center. The heart of the country is thinking each day about A, B and C, and he is thinking about X, Y and Z. They’re in one reality, he’s in another.”

I suppose it comes from her political background as a speech writer, but she seems more concerned with his political ineptness than with the disastrous effect his political ineptitude is having on our country.  Perhaps I am nitpicking at an otherwise excellent article.  She believes that the up to half of Democrats who voted for Hillary have never gotten over their disappointment that she lost, and will start to peel away their support of him.  She rightly points out that James Carville already is signalling that it is acceptable to do so because of Obama’s mishandling of the oil spill.  When you’ve lost James Carville I might have written if I was not intentionally avoiding cliché’s. 😉

One thing that I do not agree with her on is her concern that this could ruin his presidency.  I am almost giddy with anticipation, while she sounds as though such ruination will be calamitous.

“The disaster in the Gulf may well spell the political end of the president and his administration, and that is no cause for joy. It’s not good to have a president in this position—weakened, polarizing and lacking broad public support—less than halfway through his term. That it is his fault is no comfort. It is not good for the stability of the world, or its safety, that the leader of “the indispensable nation” be so weakened. I never until the past 10 years understood the almost moral imperative that an American president maintain a high standing in the eyes of his countrymen.”

Does she not remember how the Democrats ruined George W. Bush’s presidency with reckless abandon.  Sure, it was terrible for President Bush and the GOP, but our country survived with no ill effect that I could observe.  I don’t care how Obama’s presidency is ended, I just want it to go away.

Perhaps this was Bill and Hillary’s evil plan all along?  Allow an incompetent polarizing communist to be elected to the presidency and then anything even slightly to the right of him would seem attractive in 2012.  I give her until just after the 2010 elections to submit her resignation and to begin campaigning for president.  She’ll claim it as her duty–that even though she has been a loyal worker bee for Obama–after the disastrous 2010 elections and the loss of the House and/or the Senate that in order to save the party and the country she is reluctantly running for president.  I won’t buy it, but that is the plan, man.  Bet on it.  And go read Noonan’s article.

What do all y’all think?

Arlen Specter: America’s most despicable Senator?

Pond scum.  Slime layer.  Arlen Specter.  Used toilet paper.  Dead ‘possum.   Skunk.  Trash.   Arlen Specter.  Bovine excrement.  Stale urine.   Messy diapers.      Arlen Specter.  Disease.  Pestilence.  Death. Rotten eggs. Puke. Arlen Specter. unscrupulous. Cowardly. Unprincipled. Moronic.  Arlen Specter.  Die. Egg sucking-pig DIE!

We knew he was a son of a bitch, but for a while  he was our son of a bitch.  But few knew exactly what a self-serving only in it for himself worthless piece of shit he was.  He was always one of if not the most liberal Republican Senators.  At least in recent years.  But when faced with criticism from the right, and a possible loss in the Republican primaries, he jumped ship and became a Democrat.  Fine. Didn’t bother me, he was almost a Democrat when he was on our side.  Besides, he should still be one of the least liberal Democratic Senators.

But then, when confronted with a Democratic Senator from his left, he immediately voted (according to the Washington Post) with the Democrat party line 96% of the time in the current Congress.  But he still lost, Hallelujah!

Now, the left is worried that the unscrupulous bastard will suddenly start becoming more conservative now that he has lost the Dem primary, and he has nothing to gain or lose by voting 96% with the Democrats.  I should be happy–one less scum bag voting the Democrat Party line.  Instead, I hope the old bastard dies a slow and agonizing death Sen. Specter retires and is never heard from again.

At least liberal and progressive Senators are fighting for something that they believe in–even if what they are fighting for is terrible for America.  Sen. Specter is only fighting for Senator Specter.  What a pathetic man.  Good riddance.

Obama our first “affirmative action” President

From Jack Cashill’s “How Obama got into Harvard

…Obama was sufficiently self-deluding – some would say narcissistic – that he felt little of that anxiety [that Michelle felt because of being in over her head at Harvard Law School]. Later in his book, Remnick lets slip into the record a revealing letter Obama had written while president of the Harvard Law Review:

I must say, however, that as someone who has undoubtedly benefited from affirmative action programs during my academic career, and as someone who may have benefited from the Law Review’s affirmative action policy when I was selected to join the Review last year,  I have not felt stigmatized within the broader law school community or as a staff member of the Review.” [Emphasis added.]

Color me shocked.  No, modesty does not become me.  I F#&KING KNEW IT!   I called it months ago: Obama “is the perfect example of an affirmative action plan gone awry.”  And this:   “If America is dumb enough to elect this jerk, they are dumb enough to elect the next Hitler or Stalin, so long as they speak well and attend Harvard on an affirmative action scholarship.”

All y’all thought I was just a racist white boy who was jealous and could not conceive of a 1/2 black man getting into Harvard on his own merits.  Nope. I just know dumb ass when I see it.  Okay, that was harsh.  I know mediocrity when I see it.  I’ve known some geniuses in my life, and he ain’t one of them.

The left for years lamented GWB’s being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and being born on third base and thinking he had hit a home run.  They had a point.   Obama had affirmative grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and dragging him to heights that he could never have achieved on  his own merits.   He has been handed undeserved wealth and power his entire adult life–based solely upon the color of his skin.  And yeah, as a white guy who could never get that degree of support, that does piss me off.

Crash test for dummies

Well now…aint this some funny stuff. Talk about being hoisted by his own petard. Moran is a Moron and received his just desserts.

Crash test for dummies.

How much do full metal jacket rounds cost?

From The A.P.:  “Canada’s leadership came under heavy criticism from opposition leaders Wednesday after announcing the country will spend nearly $1 billion for security at the G-8 and G-20 summits next month.””

Shoot.  To kill.

Protest all  you want. But you may be shot.  Sorry, we cannot afford to allow you godless heathen to burn things up.  Just FYI.

Sincerely, John Doe

Mélissa Theuriau

This post was inspired by SupportYourLocalGunfighter’s article in which the perfectly reasonable question was asked “Why can’t God ask Mélissa Theuriau to walk around nude? Some dude was walking around nude and claiming that God told him to do it.

Now, this will show how stupid I am, but I had been admiring this lady for some time. She is often featured in ads that you are supposed to click on at HotAir.  I kept thinking to myself, damn, she’s hawt.  But I had no clue who she was.  Until I read Local Gunfighter, where they put a name to a face, and voila’, this transmorgified into a Rule 5 post!  Oh, and besides being beautiful, she’s some French reporter, if anybody cares.  I wouldn’t need any English sub-titles to communicate with  her!

She’s also No. 46 on AskMen’s top 99 most desirable women.  So I wasn’t the first to notice her beauty.

For you who insist on seeing ta tas, you could of course go here.  Or here.  And more.  If you bare them, they will cum come.

Westboro Baptist Faggots To Desecrate Funerals of Fallen Hero and Dio

It has been reported, and I have confirmed on Westboro Baptist’s website, plans to demonstrate at a funeral for an Army soldier from LA. who was killed in Afghanistan by an IED;  and Ronnie James Dio’s funeral this Sunday in Los Angeles.  What fukkheads.

Westboro Baptist demonstrators are scheduled to protest at the funerals of SPC Joshua Tomlinson in Minden, LA. (PGR is on this one, I understand they have already delivered the body to the family in escort, and will be shielding the family at his memorial) and Ronnie James Dio in Los Angeles.  There is a long hate-filled diatribe on Westboro Baptist’s site which I refuse to reprint or link, but if you are so inclined can confirm at your leisure. Their scheduled shows a demonstration from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on May 30th, which exactly coincides with the memorial ceremony planned for Dio.  Besides these disgusting appearances, WBC is also doing multiple protests at Arlington National Cemetery, Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery in KS., Boston and Lexington, MA. and in Portland, OR.

I have an unconfirmed report that a different type of motorcycle mounted “Angel” with no affiliation to PGR may meet Westboro azzholes at Forest Lawn to ensure Dio’s memorial remains undisturbed. Personally, I hope it’s true.  Those “Angels” don’t give a damn about Westboro’s right to public gathering and will fukk these jerks up.  If Ms. T. Bagg allows me to go, I’ll go to throw Ronnie “horns” and hopeful, see WBC scum splattered on the pavement.  Gives me wood just thinking about it…

For the record, I hate this group with every fiber of my existence. They are not a true church, they have no affiliation or sanction from any legitimate Baptist Convention. WBC is in fact a group of  Liberal ex-Civil Rights Lawyers who figured out how to exploit loopholes in religious freedom acts to spew their hateful rhetoric.  The Christian in me says to take comfort they will indeed rot in Hell.  The soldier and biker in me wants to kneecap them all.

Nullifying Tyranny

In their new book, Nullifying Tyranny: Creating Moral Communities in an Immoral Society, James and Walter Kennedy address the case for nullifying unconstitutional federal legislation to “fellow Christians who . . . understand that the government . . . has been slowly taken over. . . by an anti-Christian secular humanist element . . .” It is, in essence, an attempt to wake Christians up to the fact that the “god” of democracy results in a situation where immoral people can force everyone to comply with their edicts. “Government, even when sanctified by a majority vote, cannot turn an otherwise immoral act into a moral act.” Amen.

Government under democracy is nothing more than legalized theft on a massive scale … Whether it is monarchy or democracy, government steals private property (through taxation, mostly) “in order to pay for the loyalty of . . . supporters those close to the source of power who have a natural interest in maintaining the status quo.” Moreover, “A loyal court, a loyal police and military, and a loyal religious establishment” all “lead parasitic lives. The cost is paid by the productive who must labor to earn enough for the king” (or the state in general, under democracy).

I guess that’s why we’re a Constitutional Republic…or at least we’re supposed to be. I don’t know why people always insist we’re a Democracy. Must be that majority (Mob) rule thingy people talk about sometimes. It seems like some people get into politics thinking and hoping they can change things for the better. And some people get into politics thinking and hoping they can ride the gravy train and be fixed for life. The folks that try to “do good” most often are changed into someone they wouldn’t give the time of day to in real life.
