White House attempt to bribe Sestak out of the PA Senate race were “informal” talks

From The Plum Line

“Senior White House advisers asked former President Bill Clinton to talk to Joe Sestak about whether he was serious about running for Senate, and to feel out whether he’d be open to other alternatives, according to sources familiar with the situation.”

“But the White House maintains that the Clinton-Sestak discussions were informal, according to the sources. The White House, under pressure to divulge the specifics of its interactions with Sestak, will release a formal statement later today outlining their version of events, including Clinton’s involvement.”

Doh!  Why didn’t Rod Blagojevich think of that one!  He should have sent somebody important such as Bill Clinton.

I can hear Bubba now: “Theoretically, how much is the Illinois Senate seat worth to you?  Ha ha.  If you lived in a fantasy world where the Governor could be bought off to appoint you to the seat.  Which, he he, we all know is not true.  But work with me here.  This is just us two playing fantasy.  Mind you, I have no official position within the Blago, er Governor what’s his name’s administration.  I’m just ‘Joe Citizen.’  And we all know that Rod would never grant a favor for money.  Neither would I, Mark Rich and a few others excepted.  😉  This is just a way to judge your interest.  Rod certainly doesn’t want to appoint somebody who isn’t real interested in the seat.  We already have word from Jesse Jackson Jr. that he is very, very interested in the seat, if you know what I mean and I know that you do!  So how much is the seat worth to you?  Remember, this is all I-N-F-O-R-M-A-L, and off the record, and depending upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is!”
