What are you capable of being persuaded about?

Patterico claims that the two most important factors in making a 9122lalala-i-can-t-hear-you-posterspursuasive argument are 1) personal credibility and 2) an audience capable of being pursuaded.  I’m not sure I agree that those are the two most important factors, but I am interested in an off-shoot of the second factor. What things are you capable of being pusuaded about? Continue reading

In defense of RNC chairman Michael Steele

Steele has been getting non-stop grief for his stated position on abortion. I think it is unjustified, and I think it is fueled by liberals, who want Steele to be removed as head of the RNC. (See also Citizen Tom’s excellant analysis of this issue!) Then they can say, “See! The GOP is racist! They kicked a black man out!”  He was probably chosen in part due to what I call the NFL syndrome. Whatever “worked” to win the last Super Bowl is copied by many of the other teams the next year: “Dems won the election with a black guy? Let’s get our own black guy! etc.” And Dems want him kicked off to further cement their pro-choice voters.  But Steele is chairman now, so the GOP will be foolish to can him over abortion. FINALLY some politician with the guts to tell it like it is to the Obama Administration

51zesqk7q8lSen. Gregg, R-New Hampshire: “The argument that it cuts the debt in half in four years is, ahh, is truly spurious.” (I guess Sen. Gregg won’t be getting any exclusive interviews on T.V. any time soon.)

Torture and Gitmo

Death to Amelica!

Look who is politicizing the Justice Department

fat-jerrold-nadlerReps. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), and Robert Scott (D-Va.) and ACORN [a bigger collection of nitwits you may never see] sic the Justice Department on Maricopa County Az Sheriff Joe Arpaio. For enforcing the law. Sheriff: See illegal alien, arrest illegal alien, deport illegal alien. Scum bag Democrap legislators (redundant, I know): See Sheriff do his job, sic Justice Department on him.

And why are the Democraps doing this? Because they are decent Americans? Nah. Because they are currying favor with illegal aliens in order to recruit more Democrap voters. Give a shit about America? Hell no, they only care about their own political power.

Sheriff Joe is a hero. He has claimed at least that arrested 2,300 illegal aliens.  And due to the investigation by his office they discovered another 16,000 inmates to have been illegal aliens.  Those now have been deported or face deportation hearings. But Democraps can’t allow their prospective voters to be deported!

Democrats change Chinese proverb

678971Old: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Democrat new and improved version: “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Promise to keep giving him a fish every day, and you get him to vote Democrat for a lifetime.”
