Must be a right-wing plot. Nobody could have foreseen the mess that the CRA would cause. Could they?
“The Clinton administration has turned the Community Reinvestment Act, a once-obscure and lightly enforced banking regulation law, into one of the most powerful mandates shaping American cities—and, as Senate Banking Committee chairman Phil Gramm memorably put it, a vast extortion scheme against the nation’s banks. Under its provisions, U.S. banks have committed nearly $1 trillion for inner-city and low-income mortgages and real estate development projects, most of it funneled through a nationwide network of left-wing community groups, intent, in some cases, on teaching their low-income clients that the financial system is their enemy and, implicitly, that government, rather than their own striving, is the key to their well-being.” [Remember, this Prophet was writing this nine years ago!] Continue reading

Newsbusters: “With the unreported income from the use of a car service in the amounts of $73,031 in 2005, $89,129 in 2006 and $93,096 in 2007; the unreported consulting income of $83,333 in 2007; and the adjusted reductions in charitable contributions, Daschle adds a total of $353,552 in additional income and reduced donations, meaning an additional tax payment of $128,203, in addition to $11,964 in interest.” Continue reading
Yahoo news report claims Obama intends to name Repub Sen Judd Gregg to his Cabinet for two reasons. To get the Pubs to act more “bipartisan” in regards to Obama’s Stimulus Porkulus Plan, but also to allow the Dem Gov of New Hampshire to appoint a Democrat Senator to replace Judd, thus insuring the Dems a majority of 60 in the Senate.
Why is controlling 60 seats in the Senate important? A majority controlling 60 seats can block filibusters from the minority and control the Senate. Continue reading
