Don’t torture me Bro!

Not the thong on the head again!

Judge. You. Stupid. Moron. Words have meaning. Judge says USA tortured subject in captivity, then in the fine print explains what she meant. His treatment, while legal and sanctioned at the time, met “the legal definition” of torture in the USA.  World hears TORTURE! TORTURE! TORTURE! USA NO BETTER THAN TERRORISTS! It appears to me that this judge is either incredibly stupid about how her words would be received around the world. Or incredibly evil. Repercussions around the world will occur. All our enemies will use her words to excuse what they do, which really is torture. They won’t say, “It’s ok to put panties on GI Joe’s head.” They’ll say torture him, the USA did.

Clearly, she knows that when you say torture, people don’t perceive it to mean what she calls it: “You think of torture, you think of some horrendous physical act done to an individual. This was not any one particular act; this was just a combination of things that had a medical impact on him, that hurt his health. It was abusive and uncalled for. And coercive. Clearly coercive. It was that medical impact that pushed me over the edge” to call it torture, she told the paper.” [CNNOK THEN, you idiot moron, why call it torture? That wasn’t necessary. Just say it was coercive. Torture implies physical pain. Like cutting peoples heads off.

….”Crawford, who studied interrogation and other military records, said al-Qahtani was forced to stand naked in front of a female agent, threatened with a military dog named Zeus, “forced to wear a woman’s bra and had a thong placed on his head” [don’t the liberal men voluntarily choose to do that to themselves?] during questioning, and “was told that his mother and sister were whores,” the newspaper reported.”

CNN reported: “The investigations concluded the interrogation methods used at Gitmo (Guantanamo), including the special interrogation techniques used with Qahtani in 2002, were lawful.

“However, subsequent to those reviews, the department adopted new and more restrictive policies, and improved oversight procedures for interrogation and detention operations.

“Some of the aggressive questioning techniques used on al-Qahtani, although permissible at the time, are no longer allowed in the updated Army field manual.”

At least one commentator, former Federal Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy,  has the balls to get it right:

“Ms. Crawford’s conclusion is another instance of the military getting it wrong. Isolation and temperature variations of the type we are talking about here are not torture. To contend otherwise is to trivialize something that is truly heinous. It may be politically correct, but it is wrong. American law has always maintained a bright line between the egregious pain and suffering caused by actual torture and other forms of abusive conduct. Ms. Crawford’s suggestion that abusive conduct that has a “medical impact” meets the “legal definition of torture” is preposterous.”

“What impact will it have on cases? Exactly none. In the first commission case, a judge ruled some confession evidence could not be admitted at trial because it was adduced by coercion. That is the standard: “Was the declarant’s will overborne?” Not, “Was the declarant tortured?” Ms. Crawford’s assessment that “torture” occurred is not proof that it did, nor should any defendant be required to demonstrate that he was tortured in order to have confession evidence suppressed.”

  3. If we could resort to the kind of acts of hatred and not give a damn, this country would again be a super power, not a damn laughing stock of countries that d as they please.
