Judge. You. Stupid. Moron. Words have meaning. Judge says USA tortured subject in captivity, then in the fine print explains what she meant. His treatment, while legal and sanctioned at the time, met “the legal definition” of torture in the USA.  World hears TORTURE! TORTURE! TORTURE! USA NO BETTER THAN TERRORISTS! It appears to me that this judge is either incredibly stupid about how her words would be received around the world. Or incredibly evil. Repercussions around the world will occur. All our enemies will use her words to excuse what they do, which really is torture. They won’t say, “It’s ok to put panties on GI Joe’s head.” They’ll say torture him, the USA did.

Clearly, she knows that when you say torture, people don’t perceive it to mean what she calls it: “You think of torture, you think of some horrendous physical act done to an individual. This was not any one particular act; this was just a combination of things that had a medical impact on him, that hurt his health. It was abusive and uncalled for. And coercive. Clearly coercive. It was that medical impact that pushed me over the edge” to call it torture, she told the paper.” [CNN]  OK THEN, you idiot moron, why call it torture? That wasn’t necessary. Just say it was coercive. Torture implies physical pain. Like cutting peoples heads off.

Democrat ethics on display

What is the best way to shut up a Democrat? Try to get them to discuss the fact that an Obama nominee is a tax cheat. Timothy Geithner not only didn’t pay his taxes, he was given extra money to pay the taxes with by his employer.

As Byron York notes: “At the end of the tax allowance form were the words, “I hereby certify that all the information contained herein is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and that I will pay the taxes for which I have received tax allowance payments from the Fund.” Geithner signed the form. He accepted the allowance payment. He didn’t pay the tax. For several years in a row.”

Anyone who has ever done their own taxes, or who has ever gotten a paycheck, period knows that you get a W-2 from your employer setting forth withholdings. A a contributor to Michelle Malkin’s blog notes:

“As a pretty skilled and experienced tax advisor, I profess to having never heard of the FICA treatment of IMF wages, but I assure you I would have found out when I saw a W-2 with $100k of wages and no FICA withholdings.”  

Like I said, this Geithner fellow is either too dumb or too crooked to be Treasury Secretary. As a guy who personally tries to avoid every tax that I can, I applaud him for almost getting away with it. But sorry, dude, yer busted. I (nor any Pub) could get away with what you did if I were nominated by McCain for dog catcher even.
