Judge. You. Stupid. Moron. Words have meaning. Judge says USA tortured subject in captivity, then in the fine print explains what she meant. His treatment, while legal and sanctioned at the time, met “the legal definition” of torture in the USA. World hears TORTURE! TORTURE! TORTURE! USA NO BETTER THAN TERRORISTS! It appears to me that this judge is either incredibly stupid about how her words would be received around the world. Or incredibly evil. Repercussions around the world will occur. All our enemies will use her words to excuse what they do, which really is torture. They won’t say, “It’s ok to put panties on GI Joe’s head.” They’ll say torture him, the USA did.
Clearly, she knows that when you say torture, people don’t perceive it to mean what she calls it: “You think of torture, you think of some horrendous physical act done to an individual. This was not any one particular act; this was just a combination of things that had a medical impact on him, that hurt his health. It was abusive and uncalled for. And coercive. Clearly coercive.
