From The Plum Line:
“Senior White House advisers asked former President Bill Clinton to talk to Joe Sestak about whether he was serious about running for Senate, and to feel out whether he’d be open to other alternatives, according to sources familiar with the situation.”
“But the White House maintains that the Clinton-Sestak discussions were informal, according to the sources. The White House, under pressure to divulge the specifics of its interactions with Sestak, will release a formal statement later today outlining their version of events, including Clinton’s involvement.”
Doh! Why didn’t Rod Blagojevich think of that one! He should have sent somebody important such as Bill Clinton.
I can hear Bubba now: “Theoretically, how much is the Illinois Senate seat worth to you? Ha ha. If you lived in a fantasy world where the Governor could be bought off to appoint you to the seat. Which, he he, we all know is not true. But work with me here. This is just us two playing fantasy. Mind you, I have no official position within the Blago, er Governor what’s his name’s administration. I’m just ‘Joe Citizen.’ And we all know that Rod would never grant a favor for money. Neither would I, Mark Rich and a few others excepted. This is just a way to judge your interest. Rod certainly doesn’t want to appoint somebody who isn’t real interested in the seat. We already have word from Jesse Jackson Jr. that he is very, very interested in the seat, if you know what I mean and I know that you do! So how much is the seat worth to you? Remember, this is all I-N-F-O-R-M-A-L, and off the record, and depending upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is!”
Stop the presses. John Doe agrees with Bill Clinton!
When Bubba says you are too far left, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM
Politico’s Jonathan Martin details how Bubba rips into the left for trying to make Arkansas’ Sen. Blanche Lincoln an example out of the two term incumbent by supporting a primary candidate to her left.
“[Clinton] pounded the podium with Lincoln at his side, warning that national liberal and labor groups wanted to make her a “poster child” in the June 8 Senate run-off to send a message about what happens to Democrats who don’t toe the party line.”
“‘This is about using you and manipulating your votes to terrify members of Congress and members of the Senate,’ Clinton said in the gym of a small historically black college here.”
The rabid liberal left has the right to support whomever they want. But what has happened to the Democratic party is that whomever wins in the federal elections has to either toe the liberal line or be shunned, lose support and have a primary candidate supported by powerful outside interests. Awww, the poor dears at Media Matters are whining about Glenn Beck mocking Malia Obama for her quote, “Daddy, did you fix the oil leak yet?”
BECK: (imitating Malia) Daddy? Daddy? Daddy, did you plug the hole yet? Daddy?
PAT GRAY (co-host): (imitating Obama) No I didn’t, honey.
BECK: (imitating Malia) Daddy, I know you’re better than [unintelligible]
GRAY: (imitating Obama) Mm-hmm, big country.
BECK: (imitating Malia) And I was wondering if you’ve plugged that hole yet.
GRAY: (imitating Obama) Honey, not yet.
BECK: (imitating Malia) Why not, daddy? But daddy–
GRAY: (imitating Obama) Not time yet, honey. Hasn’t done enough damage.
BECK: (imitating Malia) Daddy?
GRAY: (imitating Obama) Not enough damage yet, honey. Continue reading
